A category set allows you to customise Focus to your unique situation (sport, team, performance challenges etc). This page gives you information about category sets, an example set and a form that allows you to request your own category set - designed by us.
Having identified the aspects of play on which you want to gather information and access video footage; you are ready to transfer this information to the Focus software. This is done through the creation of a Category Set using an editor built into Focus X2.

In the example on the right, the coach has decided to look at Team Play in Soccer.
In answering the question WHO is the focus of analysis our coach is using two buttons - one for the home team and one for the away team.
In answering the question WHAT is the focus of analysis our coach is using four buttons - he has identified two set-piece events (Free Kicks and Corners) and two open-play events (Crosses and Goal Attempts).
In answering the question HOW WELL are these events being executed, our coach requires seven buttons - he has the outcomes of Retained and Lost for the events of Free Kicks and Corners - he has the outcomes of Zone and No Zone for the event of Crosses - he has the outcomes of Target, Blocked and Off Target for the event of Goal Attempt.
In this example, our coach has colour coded his buttons to see the relationship of options between the Category of Event and the Category of Outcome. Should this coach wish, in future, to extend the level of detail in his category set he may:
This form allows you to request a Focus category set - fill in as much information as you can and we will design the category set, implement it for Focus and email you the category set file for you to use. Once created, a category set is added to Focus when you create a new project, full instructions will be emailed to you with your new category set. Please allow about a week for us to create the set and get it send to you.
